Top 5 Black Hat SEO Techniques
- The worse one is link farming
Having your website listed on websites that you either paid to be
listed or your black hat guru listed you and got paid for it is not
as effective as it used to be as Google updated its algorithm to
reduce rankings if a website is hosted on such a website.
Don't waste your time with FFA (Free For All
links) a 1,000 links on these websites has no effect anymore, but a
link on the BBC website is worth its value in gold.
Creating websites with no or little value to internet users, being
part of a bad neighborhood and then getting your website listed is
not recommended anymore.
- Doorway and gateway pages and the redirect
command
This is a technique where the seo guy would create web pages
that their sole purpose is to attract search engines. These pages
are stuffed with content and keywords and then redirected to the
main pages of the website. Although the Google guideline states
about not using this method is doesn't say don't use them, it says
avoid using them. The clue is in the sentence.
This technique has evolved other the years and can be used
effectively if you know what you are doing.
- Hided and misleading content
Writing content and hiding it in various parts of your website,
stuffing the content in frames, in hidden input forms, in alt tags
and in scripts is a black hat technique. A very old trick where you
wrote text and changed its colour and to match the background so not
to be seen by humans but only by search engine robots. Usually
placed at the bottom of the page or outside the table. This
technique has not effect anymore and worse if a fellow SEO guru
finds out you will be reported and banned.
If you are going to be writing this content you might as well write
the content and display it for humans and attract new visitors to
your website.
- Meta Keyword Stuffing
This is an old trick, that doesn't work anymore, where you just
stuff keywords everywhere you can find, I mean really stuff keywords
everywhere. Keywords in the meta tags, in the title, description and
in the key words meta tag, full of keywords for the sole purpose to
get the search engines to register the web pages for these keywords.
Old trick and the algorithm will not give you any credit for it
anymore.
If you are going to use keywords then make sure you have only a few
in the meta information and in the content.
- Using a black hat company
How do you know who is a black hat company? Most black hat seo guys
work in India or the United States offering their services at
ridiculous low prices. (Sorry fellows you know who you are and clean
up your act) It needs a good eye to spot a company that does these
type of techniques. Sometimes programmers, designers and developers
create web designs and don't realise that they breaking the rules,
no fault to them.
This is where a professional company like White Hat Works comes in
and looks at the media the website was built on and comes up with a
plan to rectify a black hat website and turn it around in no time to
become a white hat one that search engines love to index and promote
at the top of their organic natural free for all listing.
